Liebherr L580 XPower loader wins Red Dot Award

The Liebherr L580 XPower loader has just received the Red Dot 2017 International Design Award.

Developed specifically to meet the log handling constraints, this high-capacity loader (36.7 t, 253 kW, 8.6 t load capacity) benefits from the advantages of the new Liebherr XPower transmission. The It combines the advantages of hydrostatic with mechanical transmission.

The special lifting arm of the machine offers a maximum range of up to 4 m, which allows it to stack the logs in an extended working area. In addition, Liebherr has developed the Smooth Speed Reduction (SSR) system for precise material handling. This intelligent control allows for safe operation and provides the driver with high comfort by considerably reducing the vibrations in the cab. It avoids jerks and jerks and allows smooth damping of equipment hydraulics.

With different variants and sizes of wood grapple available, operators can configure their LogHandler L 580 XPower according to their needs. The standard version of the grapple can support 3.6 m 2 of roundwood. The other grabs are equipped with an orientation crown instead of a dowel hanger, which makes them even more robust. During transport, the logs are held in place using a fine chain on the grapple.

The LogHandler L 580 XPower has a special counterweight at the rear. It is therefore no longer necessary to fill the large special tires with water to ensure the machine’s stability. Other key components of the machine, such as axles, special lifting arm or hydraulic cylinders, have been specifically reinforced by Liebherr.
