The growth is due to the decision of the Union government to emphasize on infrastructure funding in two successive budgets. The budget assigned by the government for construction and maintenance of roads and highways in 2016-17 fiscal is nearly Rs 57 976 crore, up 24%, but this amount was revised down to Rs 52,447 crore. Finally, the government has set aside Rs 64,900 crore construction of roads and highways.
