Blockchain + IoT x BIM = The Future of Construction
The real game changer in the construction business practices is coming faster than most experts thought. Starting with the Building Information Modelling (BIM), the construction business is now bracing for the coming of the next revolution in technology: The Internet of Things (IoT) coupled to a Blockchain (a decentralized, transparent, incorruptible real-time database).

BIM has been around for a while now but what about IoT and Blockchain?

- IoT: The Internet of Things are embedded device sensors that could be placed almost everywhere. These sensors would send critical information back to engineers and maintenance about the status of their health as well as their environment so that strategic decision-making could be taken.

- Blockchain: A technology used in Bitcoin, Blockchain would be the ultimate decentralized database that would take care of all those millions and millions of IoT devices and allow for real-time tracking.

IBM, Amazon, Cisco, GE, Oracle, Salesforce, and Microsoft are some of the tech giants who have their own IoT platforms with Case and Caterpillar already adding IoT to their products.

These new technologies are predicted to hit the mainstream industries by 2020 but for construction it would take many more years ahead.
