IHI Construction in the bosom of Kato Works

IHI Corporation has announced the sale for all shares of its subsidiary IHI Construction Machinery Limited to the Japanese manufacturer Kato Works.

This transfer is part of the new strategy of IHI Group to refocus on its fundamentals. For the record, IHI Construction Machinery was established in 1952 under the name of Ishikawajima Koehring Co. and was originally a joint venture with the US company Koehring, specializing in the manufacture of mini excavators, cranes, tracked transporters intended for the Japanese and international markets.

For its part, founded in 1895, Kato Works is a company specializing in the machinery construction. The development plan for 2016-2018 aims to enlarge and expand their products range. It is in this context that the manufacturer has acquired the shares of IHI Construction to complement advantageously their current range including the mini excavators and the large crawler cranes.

As a new subsidiary of Kato Works, IHI Construction will continue to manufacture and sell their products through the group’s sale network.
