Italy ratifies Lyon-Turin

The public proponent responsible for the realization and management of the cross-border section of Lyon-Turin announces the ratification of the bi-national treaty for the final work of the project by the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

This vote is historic for Italy. It took only two months to start the ratification process of the international agreement. After the vote of the Senate, on 16 November, in the Chamber of Deputies the decision was also approved by a large majority. It should be noted that the ratification process also follows its course in France where the bill will be put to the vote of the deputies on 22nd December.

For the record, Lyon-Turin is one of the few infrastructure projects with a cost of € 8.6 billion for the EU (40%), Italy (35%) and France (25%). It is also the only site in Europe to apply anti-mafia rules.

Beginning in 2017, TELT will launch tenders for the award of works contracts, which are expected to materialize as early as 2018.
