Turned into a lift bridge, Queen Maxima bridge was aimed to allow the passage of large vessels. The shipyard was intended to lift and position the two main segments of the deck of a respective weight of 280T from floating barges on the Old Rhine.

The pieces of 30.7 meters were raised due to the main boom of the CC 3800-1 and an extension of 60 meters made a reach of 24 m.
