Margrethe Vestager, the Commissioner for Competition Policy, has released the good news of the approval of four mechanisms to support renewable energy. A news expected for several weeks by professionals. The actors of these sectors gathered within the SER express their relief and welcome the cooperation between the French State and the European Commission on this issue. The matter in question, which were approved today, are the orders fixing a purchase price or additional remuneration at the following facilities:
- installations using energy extracted from geothermal deposits,
- installations of less than 500 kW using biogas produced by methanization (ie gas produced from agricultural residues and organic waste),
- hydraulic installations of less than 1 megawatt (MW),
- wind power installations having submitted a full application for aid in 2016.
According to Margrethe Vestager, " these measures will encourage investment in clean production capacity while avoiding the unjustified additional costs to the end consumer. This is a very important balance for Europe in the pursuit of our environmental objectives. "
