Rabat Tramway: extension scheduled for January 2017

In Rabat (Morocco), the extension work of the tramway network will begin in January 2017. The stretch is expected to include about ten new stations.

According to the information from the newspaper “Aujourd’hui le Maroc”, the extension work will be carried out on line 2 of the tramway, which will be spread over 2.4 km from the Akkari and Yaacoub Al Mansour districts, from the Moulay Youssef terminus. From Salé, the extension will continue for 4.6 km to allow the Al Quaria and Hay Moulay Ismail districts to be reached from the bus station.

The project, estimated at 1.4 billion dirhams, will be completed in June 2019 to allow the commissioning of the extension. This project is expected to accommodate an additional 50,000 users per day.
