Australia: Keolis is entrusted with the Newcastle transport network

The New South Wales state government has selected Keolis Downer, an Australian subsidiary of Keolis, for the operation and maintenance of Newcastle’s new integrated public transport network north of Sydney. The contract, worth € 312 million, will take effect in July 2017 for a period of 10 years.

Newcastle Transport is the first multimodal transport network in Australia to be delegated to a private operator. The contract provides for the design of the network and the management of operations and maintenance operations for the buses, ferries and the future tramway network of the city planned for 2019. It should make it possible to offer a better quality of service to Residents and tourists and help revitalize urban space.

This operation allows Keolis to win in Australia and to strengthen its international skills in multimodality.
