ENGIE : French Power Utility awarded the Fadhili Project in Saudi Arabia

Engie, French power utility has been awarded the Fadhili Project - an independent power project (IPP) in Saudi Arabia – with a total investment cost estimated nearly US$ 1.2 billion.

Fadhili Project , the most efficient cogeneration plant and located 50 kms of Jubail Industrial City, is a combined cycled gas power plant with a capacity of production of 1,507 MW of electricity, and will also produce 1,447 tons per hour of steam and 768,8 tons per hour of feed water.

The electricity produced by the plant will then be sold to Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) while the steam and feed water will be sold to Saudi Aramco. Upon the Purchase Agreements, Engie will hold 40% ownership in the project company, SEC 30% and Saudi Aramco Power (SAPHCO) 30%.

To realize this project, Engie will also work with 2 major players, South Korean Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Siemens . Doosan is responsible for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) while Siemens aims to supply thegas turbine.

The completion of the Fadhili plant is scheduled at the end of 2019.
