The picturesque seaside town of Charleston, in South Carolina, buzzes with the arrival of a newcomer, and with it, a potential for economic growth that goes beyond the borders of the state. Attracted by the growing demand in the United States, Volvo Cars decided to build its first US production plant on a 293,80 ha site for € 60.5 million. After the deforestation initiated in July 2015, Volvo Cars hopes to release its first car from the production lines by the end of 2018.
