UGANDA : Komatsu elected as the winner

The Ministry of Works and Transport of the Republic of Uganda has awarded Komatsu a golden order of 401 units of construction equipment, including among others, graders and wheel loaders.

This order is part of the export sales contract between Sumitomo Corporation and the Ministry, representing a total of about 600 units of construction and 500 vehicles for the total amount of nearly JPY 17.8 billion (€ 149 million) . The delivery of the machines by Komatsu will be taken place only after the contract becomes effective.

Uganda is a rich agricultural country with 80% of the total population engaging in farming. The main task for the government of Uganda is to construct and improve all provincial roads (112 regions) which will enable the distribution of agricultural products.

As part of this contract, Komatsu aims to receive in its training facility in Japan, 10 people from the government to train in machine operation and maintenance for two weeks before machine delivery.

All machines (including Komatsu) will be delivered by Sumitomo, and will be financed jointly by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).
