Twisted Towers and Spiraled Skyscrapers: An Increasing Trend in Construction Industry
Twisted Towers and Spiraled Skyscrapers are some of the most eye-catching, head-turning buildings. They have found appeal among some architects and are becoming the latest design trends.

The Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has released a comprehensive list of the world’s twisting tall buildings that are either completed or under construction. They range from Shanghai to Dubai and owe it all to the first twisted skyscraper, the Turning Tower in Malmö, Sweden (see image).

On the list are the Evolution Tower in Moscow; the Mode Gakuen Spiral Towers in Nagoya City (Japan); the Infinity Tower in Dubai; the Kuwait Trade Center; the Avaz Twist Tower in Sarajevo; the Absolute World Towers in Mississauga (Canada); the Revolution Tower in Panama City; the Hadid Tower in Milan (Italy) and the Agora Garden in Taipei, both still under construction;  the Gehry Tower in Hanover (Germany) and the Opus Tower in Hong-Kong.

The winner of the CTBUH 2016 for the "Best Tall Building Worldwide Award" went to the Shanghai Tower, the world’s tallest twisting tower at 2,073 ft and second tallest building overall. It was chosen among 3 other finalists selected from 132 entries from around the world: the VIA 57 West, from the Americas; The White Walls, from Europe; and The Cube, from the Middle East and Africa. The Shanghai Tower represented the Asia & Australia region.
