VINCI wins partnership project for Louisville-Indiana East End Crossing Bridge.
The East End Crossing Bridge project, one of the largest transport infrastructure projects in the United States and currently under construction by WVB East End Partners, a group managed by Vinci Concessions, will connect the east end of Louisville (Kentucky) to southern Indiania.

The Crossing, a 2,500 feet of cable-stayed bridge over the Ohio River, will increase cross-river mobility, alleviate traffic congestion and connect highways while providing several very specific benefits to the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. Travelers passing through Louisville from the north or south will be able to use the East End Crossing to bypass the urban traffic of downtown Louisville.

On the Kentucky side, the new bridge will include a new section to the Gene Snyder Freeway also known as I-256 with a tunnel extending 1,700 feet under U.S. 42 comprising of four lanes (2 northbound, 2 southbound), a redesigned partial exchange at U.S. 42 and a multi-use pathway near the Ohio River. The Indiana side will also have a four-lane section and will extend the Lee Hamilton Highway (SR 265) four miles from its current SR 62 to the bridge.

The contract, estimated to be close to $ 1 billion, is carried out by Walsh Construction (60%) and Vinci Construction Grands Projets (40%) with the consortium led by Vinci Concessions having the routine maintenance and restoration of the infrastructure for a period of 35 years.
The project, begun in summer 2013, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016.
