When German technology investing China

The German Minister of Economy and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel, went to inspect the progress of one of the most important construction project of the urban tunnels in Hong-kong (China), where the drilling is carried out by a tunnel boring machine Herrenknecht.

On the occasion of the 15th Conference of the Asia-Pacific region focused on construction of the infrastructure, the Minister and Vice Chancellor visited the construction of Hong Kong metro network expansion and in particular the construction of the tunnel - commonly called Shatin to Central Link - directed by the joint-venture Dredging-Bouygues

The politician was impressed by the challenges of the project and the German technical of the tunnel-drilling. The Shatin to Central Link is an ambitious extension of an existing underground subway. Dredging-Bouygues was commissioned by MTR to realise 4 tunnels sections in high traffic density areas. The project had choosen Herrenknecht to provide the tunnel boring machines with a diameter of 7.41m each.
