Dakar 2017 : Iveco trucks on Top !

The Dakar 2017 rally started in South America and once again Iveco will be tested with Team Petronas De Rooy. A Powerstar and two Trakker will take part in the race, which started yesterday and ends on 14 January, with the support of six other Trakker trucks.

12 stages and 8,000 kilometers winding of which 3,000 on particularly selective portions: the race of this 39th edition will cross for the first time Paraguay, a country that reaches a level of humidity of up to 100% at this period of year. For a whole week, the competitors will cross the mountainous territories with stretches at 5,000 meters of altitude. After the exceptional performance in 2016, Team Petronas De Rooy Iveco is back and ready to take on the challenge with Gerard De Rooy, Ton van Genugten and the support of Wuf van Ginkel. Gerard De Rooy, will drive an Iveco Powerstar. Ton van Genugten will be driving the second vehicle, an Iveco Trakker. The second Trakker will be entrusted to the pilot Wuf van Ginkel. Federico Villagra, real revelation of the 2016 edition, will compete for the victory at the wheel of an Iveco Powerstar.

With versions ranging from 18 to 72 tons, the Trakker combines robustness, reliability and comfort with the new Stralis Active Day and Active Time cabs. The Trakker range, with its left-hand or right-hand drive, offers a wide range of possibilities and adapts to specific requirements with the Iveco Cursor 13 engines and the two types of cabs available (Hi-Land and Hi-Track) . Both versions are available in 4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 6x6 and 8x8 configurations, with power ratings between 310 and 500 hp. The tractors are available in 4x2, 4x4, 6x4 and 6x6 configurations, with powers ranging from 360 to 500 hp.
