With the rapid urbanization in China and the increase in climatic phenomena linked to climate change, the risks of floods and pollution increase in urban areas. Rainwater is the main cause of this: it accounts for 50% of the pollution discharged into urban rivers and beaches. Knowing this, China has set up the Sponge City program, which aims to improve the resilience of cities by optimizing the capacity of sanitation systems to collect and treat these stormwater volumes.
