Suez wins sanitation contract in Chongqing
Suez won the contract to optimize the performance of the sanitation systems of the new eco-neighborhood of Yuelai in Chongqing, China. The group will use the Aquadvanced Sanitation solution, a digital solution enabling local authorities to monitor their sewerage networks in real time.

With the rapid urbanization in China and the increase in climatic phenomena linked to climate change, the risks of floods and pollution increase in urban areas. Rainwater is the main cause of this: it accounts for 50% of the pollution discharged into urban rivers and beaches. Knowing this, China has set up the Sponge City program, which aims to improve the resilience of cities by optimizing the capacity of sanitation systems to collect and treat these stormwater volumes.

PUBLICITÉ
Selected for the job, Suez will be using the Aquadvanced Sanitation solution for the first time in China. It will be deployed on an area of 18.7 km² of the new eco-neighborhood of Yuelai in Chongqing. This solution, which represents an investment of 4 M €, will be operational starting April 2017 and can be extended to other parts of the city. It will provide the authorities with a global and real-time view of the entire sewerage network from data collected via sensors positioned on both the network and the receiving environment and short-term weather forecasts.

By centralizing and analyzing all of these data, the software will protect the population from the risk of flooding and limit pollution in the Yangtze River, the longest river in Asia, which is an essential resource for water supply for the population.
