Germany: Wirtgen on the road again
In Germany, the Voro mill, based in Kassel, is responsible for renovating the road surface of a national road. To do this, it chose a compact milling machine Wirtgen W 100 CFi.

The B3 extends over 755 km, linking Buxtehude in the north of Germany to the Swiss border to the south. In the municipality of Jesberg in the state of Hesse, it had become necessary to mill some damaged parts of the pavement asphalt on a roadway, while maintaining traffic on the track in the opposite direction. In total, it was necessary to remove 1,200 m² of asphalt layer over a depth of 4 cm, the surface to be milled being divided into 13 different sections of 3.50 m each, spaced from 50 m to 100 m .

In charge of the work, the company Voro opted for the compact milling machine W 100 CFi with high surface efficiency and low fuel consumption and above all, perfectly adapted to partial repairs of roadway as well as total discharging of pavements. It is also distinguished by its flexibility of use. Powered by a 257 kW Stage IV / Tier 4F engine, it has a drive unit designed for a maximum milling depth of 33 cm.

"The peaks round tail of Generation X have Wirtgen milled effortlessly 4 cm surface course while producing a flat, level surface," reports Werner Sigbert, milling conductor at Voro. "In addition, the soundproofing of the machine is excellent and the engine is quiet even at full load." More, the dynamic driving kit allows you to reach a speed of up to 7.5 km / h and therefore quickly reach the surface to be milled. The total length of the site being 1.2 km, this point was essential for the rapid progress of the milling work.
