Cat Improves Compaction by Vibration

Caterpillar announces the addition of a vibrating system to its range of compactors for road works. The new CB10 (10 t) is one of the machines that will benefit from oscillating and vibrating drums.

The design of this system combines vertical vibration of the front drum with a new oscillating technology on the rear drum. The front drum is available in 2 amplitudes, 5 amplitudes or in Versa-Vibe version which provides a classical compaction while the oscillating rear drum continues the effort smoothly with an optimal density.

The vibrating system is maintained only after 2 years (2,000 hours) of service, which limits maintenance costs. A durable power transmission uses a unique belt drive system to deliver twice the load capacity of the distribution system. This results in more reliable operation.

The CB10 compactor combines vibration and oscillation for a wide variety of applications: from highway projects to the most modest in urban areas. The front drum uses vertical vibration for thicker layers and more difficult mixes while the rear drum with oscillatory system operates efficiently on thin layers near sensitive structures such as buildings, bridges, fiber optic installations, Water or gas.
